Octopus,
Your dance along the ocean floor
draws me closer and closer to you.
Your jet of ink tells me that you notice me too,
and when you stop to look at me,
you click your beak,
as if to say 'Hello.'
And when you wrap your sticky arms
around my head,
I breathe deep in the water,
letting it fill my lungs,
As I know it will be
my last.
We dance like that for some time,
and then you let me go,
as my body lies limp
on the coral reef.
Your dance along the ocean floor
draws me closer and closer to you.
Your jet of ink tells me that you notice me too,
and when you stop to look at me,
you click your beak,
as if to say 'Hello.'
And when you wrap your sticky arms
around my head,
I breathe deep in the water,
letting it fill my lungs,
As I know it will be
my last.
We dance like that for some time,
and then you let me go,
as my body lies limp
on the coral reef.
