Our new American heroes,
are different than before.
They're ordinary people,
borne from an act of war.

They came from every walk of life,
perhaps it was fate or chance,
that all were on that airplane,
and decided to take a stance.

Some called their loved ones from the plane
and found about the towers,
and even though they knew their fate,
these passengers were not cowards.

They came together and stood united,
they knew this was their end.
I wish I had known just one of them.
I'd be proud to be their friend.

They left behind their wives and husbands,
their children, sisters and brothers,
not least of all their grieving dads,
and broken hearted mothers.

Our new American heroes,
let's keep them in our hearts,
and never let the world forget,
how bravely they did their part.
