At first I understood it not
So selfish a being it was I thought
To do what I wanted to do it allowed me not
To go where I wanted to go it permitted me not
Pulling me backwards when I wanted to move forward
Shoving me forward when I wanted to stand still
Yet I couldn’t see It
It was the unseen Hand

Its selfless purpose I do understand now
To love, to care and to wow
It’s only what will do me harm that it allows me do not
It’s only the way of the wicked that it allows me go not
Holding me backwards when my feet are hastening to the enemy’s snare
Shoving me forward when my feet are too heavy to escape the enemy’s darts
Still I can’t see It
It is the unseen Hand
